The wines and wineries of Piedmont, Italy are some of our favourites, and Azelia is one of its crown jewels. Nestled in the heart of Barolo in the town of Castiglione Falletto, Azelia has been quietly crafting some of the greatest wines in the region for more than 100 years.
This mixed case gives you the opportunity to understand how Azelia works with it's greatest grape, Nebbiolo. We're happy to be able to offer three wines (2 bottles of each) in this mixed pack, for your drinking education and pleasure:
Azelia Langhe Nebbiolo 2019: Azelia's Langhe Nebbiolo is pure Nebbiolo, plain and simple. Fermented and aged in stainless steel, this wine shows varietal purity, with violets on the nose, tons of jury red fruit (strawberry, cherry, red currant), fantastic acidity, and ripe grape tannins.
Azelia Barolo 2016: Azelia's Barolo is a gorgeous, entry-level offering. Orange peel, cinnamon, rose water, herbs, sweet red berries and mint give its distinctive, lifted personality. Silky and gracious, the style is very much built on mid-weight structure and aromatics. This is a terrific introduction to Azelia's Barolo wines.
Azelia Barolo San Rocco 2016: Azelia celebrated their 100th anniversary in 2020 and this small family winery is one of the top producers that you might not know. But the San Rocco vineyard in Serralunga is from vines 65 years or older, and this shows the beautiful elegance and precision of the eastern part of Barolo.
