Terroir al Limit is probably one of the most important wineries in Priorat right now. In a region most known for powerful, tannic long-ageing wines, Terroir al Limit is inspired by a different approach to terroir. The focus is on the unique single-vineyards of the region, creating each wine with gastronomy and community in mind. Elegance, purity and energy are the goals for each wine, and this mixed case is a perfect example of that expression, with 3 bottles each of two different single vineyard wines from different vintages. Only 10 mixed cases are available.
Dits del Terra 2019: The wines are very transparent with the vintage, and the 2019 Dits del Terra shows the openness of the year, a wine that is expressive and aromatic, charming and approachable but still serious and very mineral with fine tannins. Part of the wine matured in oak foudre, making it a little more classical.(95, WA)
Dits del Terra 2021: The 2021 Dits del Terra shows lower alcohol and more freshness, and it has an herbal note and feels very young and undeveloped. Like most of the 2021s, they shortened the time of aging, and it was completely in concrete and didn't touch any oak (they sold all the foudres). There's purity and precision, elegance and freshness. (96, WA)
Arbossar 2020: The fruit profile of the 2020 Arbossar is completely different from the 2019s, with darker fruit and a smoky note, despite not having any oak (they stopped the foudres for this wine in 2016), but that note goes away with time in the glass. 2020 was a very challenging year, when they lost a lot of the grapes to mildew, and this is the only wine they produced; this is a vineyard near their house and winery and they had better access, other vineyards were difficult to reach because of the rain and also the limitations of manpower because of COVID-19. (93, WA)
Arbossar 2021: The 2021 Arbossar matured exclusively in concrete, and they also shortened the élevage because they saw that a longer élevage tired the wines a little too much and decided to bottle them before the following harvest. The wine is clean and precise, like a laser cut, with focus and red rather than black fruit. It's medium-bodied, has moderate alcohol, 13.5%, and very fine tannins. A surprisingly elegant Cariñena. This is a cool vineyard that delivers serious wines. (95, WA)
